The best wave is not always better
There are days when you know a wave maybe pumping but so does everyone else. A quick survey of the parking lot and line up tells you as much. Instead of joining the horde you keep moving. Down the beach, down the road or down the coast. In the eternal trade-off of quality versus quantity you will often be rewarded.
The best wave is sometimes the one spent alone
Finding some private space is often as good as gold. Quality in not jostling and hassling for a single wave session. The place where you can take your time, reset and relax between waves without bringing any land baggage with you or dealing within anyone else’s. Leave it all behind and get your fill.
The best wave is sometimes the one shared with friends
How many times has a less than stellar session been saved by some shared camaraderie. Life keeps us all very busy and time poor. So it’s a great thing to catch-up with friends and share in the experience of doing something you all love doing. Two birds with one peak per-se
The best wave is sometimes not even a wave
You don’t need perfect A-frames to have a great surf (though it is nice!!). Rather than let the conditions get you down – abandon the fiberglass and get back to basics with some bodysurfing. You will find those half foot insiders you looked down upon a lot more fun than you gave them credit for.
The best wave is not always better and the worst wave is sometimes not all that bad.
How many times have you taken the lesser option and had the better time?
