Sketchy rock-offs aside, Cape Fun version 2.0 could not have been more of a contrast to version 1.0. Cape Fun 1.0 was a sunny day with a small swell and deadly angle. Cape Fun 2.0 was an ominous looking day with better size and a traditional, less suicidal swell direction. So while the takeoff was still directly in front of the rocks, the wave provided a welcome slingshot away from the ledge rather than straight toward it. A slingshot that at times felt like being shot out of a cannon and allowed you to cover a lot of distance across the face and through the barrel. All help to get past that inside rock ledge is appreciated! There was still that sense of holding on with white knuckles but in comparison this session was actually quite fun.
